GAINESVILLE, GA — After being missing for nearly two months, authorities said 12-year-old Maria Gomez-Perez has safely been found in another state.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office announced the news Thursday night, noting Gomez-Perez is "safe and OK."

Authorities did not immediately identify which state the young girl was found in; however, authorities said Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch is set to provide more information at an 11 a.m. Friday news conference.

“The tireless work of our (Criminal Investigations Bureau), law enforcement partners and the community has resulted in the best possible outcome,” Couch said in a Facebook post. “Our prayers for Maria’s safe return have been answered.”

As of Thursday night, authorities said investigators were working to return Gomez-Perez to her home.

She disappeared on May 29 from her Westside Drive home in Gainesville, authorities said. Her father reported her missing the next day, authorities previously said.

A massive search for Gomez-Perez ensued which included boat and drone searches and door-to-door canvassing. Although a Levi's Call was denied in Gomez-Perez's case, authorities issued a be on the lookout for her.

The search went national when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shared her missing persons information.

A $50,000 reward was offered for information relating to Gomez-Perez's disappearance.
